Curiosity might just kill Gabriel Karne after all.

Casey vows to do his best to bring Calvin some sort of justice. Not even Calvin Perkins deserves to be executed and dumped into an unmarked grave.
As it turns out it may be curiosity that kills Casey, and Gabriel can’t rush to his rescue.

The Drop is book 4 in the Subtle Deceptions series. It is the final installment in grifter Gabriel Karne's pursuit of nearly legal happiness among the denizens of Heartstone and features: small-town mystery, amateur sleuthing, true love, found family, and a great deal of snark.

Note to Gabe - STOP answering your phone when you don't know who's ringing you!
Yet again, Gabe finds himself in the smelly-sock-interview room, not guilty but treated very much as though he is. Sigh. Just another day on the Olympic Peninsula. He is the dictionary definition of 'If he didn't have bad luck.....' and the rest of his week goes the same way, as if we couldn't guess.
Unlike the previous three books, Gabe and Casey don't spend much time together, Casey busy busy-bodying rather than doing his ranger job, and Gabe trying desperately to not trip over any more bodies and not get himself killed. I missed their interactions as they are so good together, but I appreciated all that had to happen to tie everything up.
On the plus side, that meant Gabe was free to spend most of his time with fan-favourite Elton, who has secrets of his own and continues to be an absolute delight. So happy at what made him happy at the end.
The overarching storyline is front and centre, with many threads coming together to provide a very satisfactory ending to this intriguing and compelling series. Elle has said she isn't done with Gabe yet (and honestly, how could she ever be?) and where there's Gabe, there's Casey, so I'll wait impatiently for more Ranger Man and his Charming Fucker, with fingers crossed for more of Gabe's half-brothers and Claribel too. Elton had better be there at all times too.

Finally the ending! This is book four in the series and we finally get the ending to the mystery! That being said, you definitely need to read the whole series in order.
Overall, I really liked it. I definitely need to go and reread the series because I feel like I forgot parts of it. The audiobooks are starting to come out so I’ll probably just wait until all those are out and listen to it.
I won’t do any spoilers (obviously) but I really wasn’t expecting how everything wrapped up. There was a lot of good suspense in this one leading up to it.
I wanted just a little more of the two main characters together in this one. There was a lot of the book where they were off doing their own things. That did work well for the plot though.
I would say this series is definitely worth the read!
