Ethan Moore said yes when he should’ve said no. Now he’s committed to a weekend at a remote luxury hotel--a murder weekend, if you will. The only person on Ethan’s murder-list is his coworker who caught him unawares with this over-the-top shenanigan. Oh, and the man who broke his heart years ago, who just so happens to be his co-detective for the event.
If Jordan Ferguson thinks Ethan has forgiven and forgotten, he is wildly incorrect. Can two broken hearts meet again and maybe get it right this time?

A cute little Piedras novella (though not set on Piedras). More to it, a second-chance story, which always does it for me!
And when the two knuckleheads have never stopped loving each other, even after eighteen years? Chef’s kiss!
This was a quick but entertaining read. I enjoyed reading along as Ethan and Jordan got their second chance to get a happily ever after.
I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion
This book is a West Coast Forensics novella. You can enjoy it as a standalone read. This book focuses on romance rather than the usual murder in this series. This is the story of Ethan Moore and Jordan Ferguson. Ethan is a forensic anthropologist who works with Ryder at West Coast Forensics. Ryder maneuvers Ethan into participating at a mystery dinner weekend. While suspicious of his collogue, Ethan attends. It is there that he once again meets his long lost love. Jordan is an anthropologist and university professor. Eighteen years earlier Jordan ended their relationship with a note that said. "It was great getting to know you". Ethan was blindsided by the note. Now eighteen years later they are placed together as a team to solve the murder mystery. This is their story. I received a complementary advanced review copy from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review. As expected by the authors other books, this books is well written and easy to read. I really enjoyed it. It is a warm and fun story. Another wonderful book in this series.
I love Ethan! This novella was very good. I’m sure some would say he didn’t make Jordan grovel enough, but when you have already wasted almost 20 years, why waste any more time? I’m sure he didn’t expect Ryder’s 🥰”favor” he owed him to lead to reconnecting with the guy who shattered his heart into a gajillion pieces. Jordan knows he messed up big time all those years ago. My only question for him would be why did you wait so long to reconnect, but who is to say Ethan would have talked to him back then? I love a good second chance trope story and this one was worth a read.
I enjoyed this second chance novella, which gives Ethan his opportunity for a HEA. The setting was fun, with a fictional crime solving for detectives who deal with the not so nice reality in their daily work lives. I read this in one sitting, as I didn’t want to put it down.
I loved Ethan and Jordan’s reconnection, and how far they’ve both come since they parted ways. Their romance is sweet, with the added fun of competing to work out the identity of the weekend’s ‘bad guy’,
I also loved the cameos of characters from another series, and the connections between them. And Ryder has a lot to answer for, but in a good way.
